Description

Since 2014-15, the CRFC offers financial support to the three campus and community radio associations who represent the majority of the 180 stations across Canada.

  • National Campus and Community Radio Associations (NCRA): Founded in 1986, the NCRA has 90 CRFC-eligible stations, but more than 100 members.
  • Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada (ARC of Canada): Founded in 1991, the ARC du Canada has 28 stations.
  • Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec (ARCQ): Founded in 1979, ARCQ has 37 stations.

The CRFC has renewed its support to the associations in order to foster resource development and capacity building for the sector by launching a call for project proposals that will contribute to a stronger and dynamic campus and community radio sector in Canada.

Funding for the associations comes from Canada's private broadcasters through a portion of their Canadian Content Development (CCD) contributions. These contributions are primarily intended to support initiatives that help create and promote quality audio content for broadcasting and initiatives that support volunteer training.
